Wikipedia only gives this name to the peninsula in Scotland the village is located on. On OS Landranger map 24 (Raasay & Applecross) the peninsula is unnamed, and only the village, Applecross Bay, the River Applecross and Applecross Forest bear this name. It was also described as a village in the AA Book of British Villages published in 1980.

The Applecross peninsula ( A' Chomraich, 'The Sanctuary' in Gaelic ) is a peninsula in Wester Ross, Highland, on the west coast of Scotland. The name Applecross is at least 1300 years old and is not used locally to refer to the 19th century village with the pub and post office, lying on the small Applecross Bay, facing the Inner Sound, on the opposite side of which lies the Inner Hebridean island of Raasay.
