語源
From 中期英語 prince, from Anglo-Norman prince, from Latin prīnceps (“first head”), from prīmus (“first”) + capiō (“seize, take”). Cognate with 古期英語 fruma (“prince, ruler”). Doublet of princeps and principe.
Displaced native 中期英語 atheling, from 古期英語 æþeling; 中期英語 kinebarn, from 古期英語 cynebearn; 中期英語 alder, from 古期英語 ealdor; and 中期英語 drighten, from 古期英語 dryhten.
