Abstract

patient interface for sealed delivery of a flow of air at a continuously positive pressure with respect to ambient air pressure to an entrance to a patient’s airways, comprising a plenum chamber (3200) connected to a seal forming structure (3100) comprising an air impermeable membrane comprising a first textile material (3109) having one or two nasal holes (3101) to direct the flow of air to the patient's nares. The seal forming structure further comprises a foam undercushion (3114) that comprises a pair of alar sealing regions (3113) configured to compress into the corners of the patient's nose, wherein the foam undercushion is shaped such that a first portion of the membrane is supported by the foam undercushion and a second portion of the membrane is not supported by the foam undercushion. An outer periphery (3115) of the membrane is joined to the foam undercushion with an airtight bond and the membrane is configured to cover the foam undercushion such that, in use, the membrane can inflate away from the foam undercushion and seal at the corners of the patient's nose. The invention provides a seal forming structure that is comfortable for the user with less leakage of supplied air.

Claims (18)

1. A patient interface for sealed delivery of a flow of air at a continuously positive pressure with respect to ambient air pressure to an entrance to the t’s airways including at least a patient’s nares, wherein the patient interface is configured to in a therapy pressure in a range of about 4 cmH2O to about 30 cmH2O above ambient air re in use, throughout the patient’s respiratory cycle, while the patient is sleeping, to ameliorate sleep disordered breathing, the patient interface comprising: a plenum chamber having a connection port configured to be connected to an air delivery tube to receive the flow of air; and a seal-forming structure connected to the plenum chamber and comprising: a ne sing a first textile material which is air-impermeable and configured to contact the patient’s face and seal around the entrance to the patient’s airways including at least the patient’s nares, the membrane having either one or two nasal holes configured to direct the flow of air to the entrance to the patient’s s including at least the patient’s nares; and a foam undercushion that comprises a pair of alar sealing regions configured to compress into the corners of the patient's nose in use, wherein the foam undercushion is shaped and dimensioned such that a first n of the membrane is supported by the foam undercushion and a second portion of the membrane is not supported by the foam ushion, and wherein an outer periphery of the membrane is joined to the foam undercushion with an airtight bond, and the membrane is configured to cover the foam undercushion such that, in use the membrane can inflate away from the foam undercushion and seal at the corners of the t's nose; a vent comprising a plurality of vent holes configured to wash out exhaled gas from the patient during use; and JAWS ref: 506108NZDIV4 ResMed Ref: P1135NZ5 a positioning and stabilising structure configured to maintain the seal-forming structure in sealing contact with the patient’s face, the positioning and ising structure comprising at least one strap constructed from a second textile material.
