Abstract

patient interface for sealed delivery of a flow of air at a continuously positive pressure with respect to ambient air pressure to an entrance to a patient’s airways, comprising a plenum chamber formed from a first piece of thermoformed textile material (3200) and comprising a connection port (not numbered) configured to be connected to an air delivery tube. The interface also comprises a seal-forming structure formed from a second piece of thermoformed textile material (3100) having a pair of nasal holes (3101) configured to direct the flow of air to the patient’s nares and an oral hole configured to direct the flow of air to the patient’s mouth, wherein the second piece of thermoformed material is welded to the first piece of thermoformed material. The seal forming structure is configured to, in use, seal around the patient's nose below the bridge of the patient's nose, and around the patient's mouth.

Claims (8)

1. A patient interface for sealed delivery of a flow of air at a continuously positive pressure with respect to ambient air pressure to an entrance to the patient’s airways including at least a patient’s nares, wherein the patient interface is configured to maintain a therapy pressure in a range of about 4 cmH2O to about 30 cmH2O above ambient air pressure in use, throughout the patient’s respiratory cycle, while the patient is sleeping, to ameliorate sleep disordered breathing, the patient interface comprising: a plenum chamber formed from a first piece of thermoformed textile material and configured to be pressurised at a pressure above ambient pressure by the flow of air, and comprising a connection port formed through the first piece of thermoformed textile material and configured to be connected to an air delivery tube to receive the flow of air; and a seal-forming structure formed from a second piece of thermoformed textile material and configured to seal around the patient's nose below the bridge of the patient's nose, and around the patient's mouth, in use, the second piece of textile material having a pair of nasal holes configured to direct the flow of air to the patient’s nares and an oral hole configured to direct the flow of air to the patient’s mouth, wherein the second piece of thermoformed material is welded to the first piece of thermoformed material, a vent comprising a plurality of vent holes configured to wash out exhaled gas from the patient during use; and a positioning and stabilising structure configured to maintain the seal-forming structure in sealing contact with the patient’s face, the positioning and stabilising structure comprising at least one strap formed from a third piece of textile material.
2. The patient interface of claim 1, wherein the positioning and stabilising structure comprises a pair of rigidizer arms attached to the plenum chamber.
3. The patient interface of any one of claims 1 to 2, wherein the positioning and stabilising structure further comprises a pair of side straps, each of the side straps configured to pass along a corresponding side of the patient’s face. P1135NZ2 / 506108NZDIV1

The patient interface of claim 3, wherein the pair of rigidizer arms are configured to pass along a corresponding side of the patient’s face, each of the rigidizer arms being connected to the plenum chamber by a rigidiser arm connector, and each of the rigidizer arms being concealed by a corresponding one of the side straps.
5. The patient interface of claim 4, wherein each of the side straps is configured to cushion the patient’s face against a corresponding one of the rigidizer arms.
6. The patient interface of claim 3, wherein the positioning and stabilizing structure further comprises a crown strap configured to pass over the top of the patient’s head and a rear strap configured to pass behind the patient’s head.
7. The patient interface of claim 6, wherein the crown strap and the rear strap are connected to each of the side straps.
8. The patient interface of any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the vent is positioned on the plenum chamber.
