Description

The present invention relates to a fire door with a window. More specifically, the present invention relates to a fire door with a window that has a steel door body and a window section with plate glass inserted into it.

In recent years, fire doors used inside buildings are expected to not only fulfill the functions of specific fire prevention equipment, but also to have a high level of design that attracts people.

The fire door shown in Figure 2, a representative embodiment of Patent Document 1, consists of a steel door body and a sheet of glass fitted into the door body. The sheet of glass is rectangular and approximately the same size as the door body. The upper edge of the sheet of glass is held inside a groove in the upper frame of the door body, consisting of one embankment-shaped portion and another embankment-shaped portion equipped with a stopper member, and both left and right edges and the lower edge of the sheet of glass are fitted and held in grooves consisting of two embankments. In this way, because the upper edge of the sheet of glass is held in place by the embankment-shaped portion equipped with a stopper member, the heads of the screws used to secure the sheet of glass are not exposed, resulting in a cleaner door design and improved aesthetic appeal.

The fire door shown in Figure 2, a representative embodiment of Patent Document 2, consists of a steel door body and a sheet of glass fitted into the door body. The sheet of glass is rectangular and approximately the same size as the door body. The four side edges of the sheet of glass are fitted and held in grooves consisting of a pair of embankment-shaped portions provided on the top, bottom, left, and right frames that make up the door body, and reinforcing material and positioning members are inserted between the pair of embankment-shaped portions that hold the upper edge. The configuration using such reinforcing material and positioning members eliminates the need for a ledge, eliminating design constraints for the entire door and improving aesthetic appeal.

Furthermore, Patent Document 3 discloses the fire-resistant glass panel shown in Figure 3 as a representative embodiment of the fire door. This fire-resistant glass panel consists of a steel door body and a glass plate fitted into the door body, with the glass plate being approximately the same size as the door body. The glass plate is held at several points on its upper edge by gripping pieces of a metal fitting, and both vertical edges and the lower edge are fitted into recesses in the frame and adhered with flame-retardant silicone or the like. This document aims to prevent the heat-softened glass plate from falling off in the event of a fire, and does not particularly aim to improve the design.

The prior art technologies in the above Patent Documents 1 to 3 all have glass fitted over almost the entire surface of the door body, which differs in configuration from fire doors that have a window in part of the door body.

A typical conventional fire door with a window 100 available on the market has the structure shown in Figure 8. The door body 101 is made of iron, and a long, narrow window 102 is provided in a part of the door body 101, for example, approximately in the middle in the vertical direction, and a sheet of glass 103 is inserted into this window 102.
The door body 101 of the conventional windowed fire door 100 is composed of a frame 110 and a door surface material 120. The frame 110 is made up of an upper frame 111 and a lower frame 112, and left and right vertical frames 113 and 114. Each frame is made up of framework, reinforcing material, etc.

As shown in Figure 9, the door surface material 120 consists of two surface materials 121 and 122 on the front and back sides. An insertion hole 104 is formed in the approximate vertical middle of the door body 101 on the hanging side, through which the plate glass 103 can be inserted. Each of the left-side vertical frames 113 is composed of a frame 113a and a reinforcing member 113b, and these members are provided with a pair of front and rear glass holding members 131 and 132 formed in a bank shape. The plate glass 103 is held by the pair of front and rear glass holding members 131 and 132. The right-side vertical frame 114, like the left-side frame, is also composed of a frame 114a and a reinforcing member 114b, and the right end of the plate glass 103 is held by the pair of front and rear glass holding members 131 and 132. The insertion hole 104 formed in the left-side vertical frame 113 is covered by an appropriate cover 105. Decorative panels 141, 142 are fitted to the glass holders 131, 132. Note that the doorknob 145 shown in Figure 8 is not shown in Figure 9. 150 is the door frame on the building side.

However, in the conventional fire door with window 100, the decorative panels 141, 142 covering the glass holding parts 131, 132 protrude slightly from the outer surface of the door surface material 120, as shown in Figure 10. This makes the decorative panels 141, 142 conspicuous, resulting in a problem of an uncluttered design.
Such poor design reduces the commercial value of fire doors with windows.

In consideration of the above circumstances, the present invention aims to provide a fire door with a window that is highly designed.

The fire door with a window of the first invention is a fire door with a window comprising a door body made of steel, a window section formed in the door body, and plate glass inserted into the window section, wherein the door body is made up of a frame and a door surface material attached to the frame, the window section is made up of an upper door surface material and a lower door surface material that are separated into upper and lower parts of the door surface material, and two window component panels that are separated and arranged on both left and right ends between the upper door surface material and the lower door surface material, the window component panels are attached to the frame with their outer surfaces retracted in the thickness direction from the outer surface of the door surface material, and a decorative panel is attached to the window component panel, and the outer surface of the decorative panel is substantially flush with the outer surface of the door surface material.
In the present invention, the phrase "the outer surface of the decorative panel is substantially flush" with the outer surface of the door surface material basically means that there is no step between the two surfaces and they appear flat, but the concept of flushness also includes a slight step that is not noticeable to the naked eye.

The window-equipped fire door of the second invention is characterized in that, in the first invention, the vertical dimension of the window component panel is larger than the vertical dimension of the window portion.
The third invention is a fire door with a window, characterized in that in the first or second invention, the thickness of the decorative panel is approximately the same as the thickness of the door surface material, and the outer surface of the window component panel is retracted by a dimension approximately the same as the thickness of the door surface material.

According to the first invention, by inserting a sheet of glass into the window section and holding it with the left and right window component panels, and then fixing these window component panels to the upper and lower door surface materials, the sheet of glass can be fixed to the window section, completing a fire door with a window. Furthermore, by attaching a decorative panel to the window component panels, the exterior surface of the fire door is not only beautiful, but the exterior surface of the decorative panel is essentially flush with the exterior surfaces of the upper and lower door surface materials. "Substantially flush" here includes small steps that appear to be flush from the outside, but because there are no steps when viewed with the naked eye, it results in a clean, streamlined design.

According to the second invention, the vertical dimensions of the window component plate are larger than those of the window portion, so the area over which the window component plate can be fixed to the upper and lower door surface materials by welding or the like is increased, making it less likely to burn down even if it comes into contact with flames.
According to the third invention, the thickness of the decorative panel and the thickness of the door surface material are the same, so when the decorative panel is attached to the window component panel, there is no step between the decorative panel and the door surface material, and a neat design can be achieved.

Next, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
The fire door with window (hereinafter simply referred to as the fire door) of the present invention, like other fire doors, is classified as a specific fire protection equipment under the Building Standards Act, and is designed to be flame-proof for one hour even when exposed to flames from a normal fire, and is equipped with a glass window to enhance its design. The specific fire protection equipment under the Building Standards Act requires that the steel plate be made of steel and have a thickness of 1.5 mm or more (Construction Notification No. 1369 of 2000). The term "steel plate" as used here includes polyvinyl chloride-coated metal plates conforming to JIS K6744 and similar steel plates (limited to those certified as non-combustible materials).

The basic structure of fire doors A, B, and C according to each embodiment of the present invention is similar to that of the prior art shown in Figure 8, consisting of a steel door body, a window formed in the door body, and sheet glass inserted into the window. The door body is constructed by attaching two front and back door surface materials to the top, bottom, left, and right stiles, i.e., the upper stile, the lower stile, and the left and right vertical stiles. The door body is then fixed to the door frame on the building side with hinges or the like (not shown) so that it can be opened and closed freely.

Each of the top, bottom, left and right frames is often made up of a steel frame and reinforcing materials used together, but frames that do not use reinforcing materials are also included in the present invention.
Plate glass is heat-resistant glass, and sometimes has wire mesh or metal wire inside to prevent the glass from falling off when exposed to heat such as a flame.

(First embodiment)
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the first embodiment of a fire door with a window A, showing the structure at the back side, with the front side structure (door surface material, glass support body, etc.) omitted. Fig. 3 is also an exploded perspective view showing the structure at the back side, with the front side structure omitted.

In Figure 1, 1 and 2 are left and right ribs that serve as strength members for the door body. Each rib 1, 2 is made of a steel beam of appropriate size or by bending a steel plate. The ribs that run horizontally above and below the door body are not shown, but are made of steel beams or bent steel plates and are connected to the left and right ribs 1, 2.
The door body 1 is constructed by fixing door surface materials 3 and 4 to four ribs, including the ribs 1 and 2. Note that Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 only show the rear door surface material 3, and do not show the front door surface material 4. Fig. 2 shows the front and back door surface materials 3 and 4.
The door surface materials 3 and 4 on both the front and back sides are fixed to the four ribs by any means such as welding.

The door surface member 3 is made up of an upper surface member 3a and a lower surface member 3b on both the front and back sides. The reason for dividing the door surface member 3 into upper and lower parts is to provide a window portion 5 between them.
To provide this window 5, an upper window frame 5a is formed at the lower edge of the upper surface member 3a, and a lower window frame 5b is formed at the upper edge of the lower surface member 3b. The upper and lower edges of the window 5 are formed by the upper window frame 5a and the lower window frame 5b.
Although not shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, the door surface material 4 also has a similar configuration.

The left and right side edges of the window portion 5 are formed by a window component plate 6 and a window component plate 7 .
1 and 3, the window component plate 6 is attached to the left side, and the window component plate 7 is attached to the right side. The window component plate 7 has the same structure as the window component plate 6 except that it is oriented left and right.
The window forming plate 6 comprises a connecting portion 6a made of a flat plate and a glass holding portion 6b extending from one end edge of the connecting portion 6a and formed with an L-shaped cross section.

As shown in Figure 2, two window component plates 6 are used, one at the back and one at the front, sandwiching the frame 1. A window frame 11 is placed between the back window component plate 6 and the front window component plate 6. The window frame 11 is made of U-shaped steel or a steel plate bent into a U-shape. Since the window frame 11 is used as a reinforcing material for the window section 5, it is sufficient that it is a member of approximately the same length as the window component plates 6. The connecting parts 6a, 6a can be fixed to the frame 1 by any means, such as spot welding.

The pair of front and rear glass holders 6b, 6b are positioned facing each other and abut against the upper window frame 5a of the upper surface member 3a and the lower window frame 5b of the lower surface member 3b. The space between the two glass holders 6b, 6b is where both the left and right edges of the sheet glass 10 (described below) are clamped and secured.

The vertical dimension of the connecting portion 6a of the window component plate 6 is larger than the vertical dimension of the window portion 5. For this reason, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, the lower edge of the connecting portion 6a is positioned so that it overlaps the upper edge of the lower surface materials 3b and 4b, and they are fixed to each other by welding. This overlapping structure is also the same between the upper edge of the connecting portion 6a and the lower edge of the upper surface materials 3b and 4b. Therefore, the upper and lower edge portions of the window component plate 6 are overlapped and fixed to the upper surface plate 3a and lower surface plate 3b of the door surface material 3 by any means, such as spot welding.

As described above, the connecting portion 6a of the window component plate 6 is fixed in layers to the upper surface materials 3a, 4a and the lower surface materials 3b, 4b, resulting in high bonding strength between them. This configuration is also the same for the window component plate 7 on the right side shown in Figure 1. Therefore, the window component plates 6, 7 are less likely to burn down even if they come into contact with flames.

As shown in Fig. 3, decorative panels 8 and 9 are attached to the window component panels 6 and 7. Although Fig. 3 only shows the configuration on the far side, the configuration on the near side is the same.
The decorative panels 8 and 9 are decorative members that are fitted from the outside onto the window constituent panels 6 and 7. The outer surface of the decorative panel 8 may be provided with an appropriate pattern.
The decorative panels 8, 9 are rectangular panels with both ends bent inward. The decorative panels 8, 9 can be attached to the window component panel 6 by fitting them together, by fitting them together with screws, or by adhesive bonding.

The thickness of the decorative panels 8, 9 is "substantially the same" as the thickness of the door surface panel 3. Specifically, the concept of "substantially the same" includes cases where the thickness of the decorative panels 8, 9 is the same as the thickness of the door surface panel 3 or is thinner but the difference in thickness is not noticeable to the naked eye. In the illustrated embodiment, the door surface panel 3 is made of steel and has a thickness of 1.6 mm, and the decorative panel 8 is made of stainless steel and has a thickness of 1.5 mm, but this is not limited to this example.

Next, a manufacturing procedure for the windowed fire door A according to the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
Figure 1 (I) shows the state in which two door surface panels 3 and 4 are attached to one side (frame 1 on the left side in the figure). Although not shown, door surface panels 3 and 4 are also attached to the other side (frame 2 on the right side in Figure 1). Naturally, lower surface panels 3b and 4b are attached to the lower side of the part that will become the window section 5, and upper surface panels 3a and 4a (not shown) are attached to the upper side.

Next, as shown in Figure 4 (II), two window component plates 6, 6 are attached to both the front and back sides of the frame 1. These window component plates 6, 6 are attached to the area where the window section 5 is provided, which is the space between the lower surface plate 3b and the upper surface plate 3a. A reinforcing window frame 11 is then fitted between the two window component plates 6, 6 and fixed by any means such as spot welding. Although not shown, window component plates 7, 7 are attached to the right-side frame 2.

With the window component plates 6, 6 fitted into the frame 1, the upper edge of the connecting portion 6a overlaps with the lower edge of the upper surface plate 3a and is welded to it, as shown in Figure 1. Also, the lower edge of the connecting portion 6a overlaps with the upper edge of the lower surface plate 3b and is welded to it.
In this state, the glass holding portions 6b of the window component plates 6, 6 are positioned facing the window portion 5, and the two glass holding portions 6b, 6b arranged on both the front and back surfaces are able to hold the left end of the glass sheet 10. This configuration is the same for the right window component plates 7, 7 (not shown), and the right end of the glass sheet 10 is held by the two glass holding portions 7b, 7b.

In the above installation state, the outer surfaces of the connecting portions 6a, 6a of the window component plates 6, 6 are retracted from the outer surface. This retraction dimension d is approximately the same as the thickness of the door surface material 3 (upper and lower surface materials 3a, 3b).

The frame 1 has an opening 14 for inserting the glass sheet 10 from the side. The glass sheet 10 is inserted into the window portion 5 from the outside through this opening 14, and while inserted, the left end of the glass sheet 10 is held between two glass holding portions 6b, 6b via a sealing material 15. In the other frame 2 (not shown), the glass sheet 10 is similarly held between two glass holding portions 7b, 7b.

As shown in Fig. 4 (III), decorative plates 8, 8 are fitted and fixed to the window constituent plates 6, 6. To ensure a secure fixation, the decorative plates 8 may be fixed to the window constituent plates 6 using screws 13 or may be attached with adhesive.
The opening 14 through the glass sheet 10 is closed with a suitable cover.

When the decorative panel 8 is attached as described above, the outer surface of the window component panel 6 is substantially flush with the outer surfaces of the upper and lower surface panels 3a and 3b of the window section 5. This is because the outer surface of the window component panel 6 is recessed from the outer surface of the door surface material 3, and the thickness of the decorative panel 8 and the thickness of the door surface material 3 are approximately the same.

The explanation will be given again with reference to the perspective view of FIG.
(II) in Figure 5 corresponds to (II) in Figure 4, and (III) in Figure 5 corresponds to (III) in Figure 4. As shown in Figure 5 (II), before the decorative panel 8 is attached, a step of dimension d is generated between the outer surface of the connecting portion 6a of the window component panel 6 and the upper and lower surface materials 3a, 3b.
Then, as shown in FIG. 5(III), when the decorative plate 8 is fitted into the window component plate 6, the outer surface of the decorative plate 8 and the outer surfaces of the upper and lower surface materials 3a, 3b become substantially flush with each other.
Based on this configuration, a fire door A with a neat appearance can be obtained.

Second Embodiment
A fire door B of the second embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 6. The fire door B of this embodiment differs from the first embodiment only in the window component plate, and is otherwise the same.
6(I) shows the state in which door surface members 3 and 4 are attached to frame 1 and frame 2 (not shown). Since FIG. 6(I) shows the area below the window, lower surface plates 3b and 4b are shown but upper surface plates 3a and 4a are omitted.

12 (II) shows the state in which the window component plate 16 is attached to the bone 1. The window component plate 16 is a member configured as an integral unit, unlike the first embodiment in which two window component plates 6 are used.
That is, the window component plate 16 has a shape in which a flat connecting portion 16a and a glass holding portion 16b with an L-shaped cross section, and a flat connecting portion 16c and a glass holding portion 16d with an L-shaped cross section are connected by a connecting plate 16e, and is formed into this shape by bending a single steel plate.
In this window component plate 16, the connecting portions 16a and 16c are members corresponding to the connecting portions 6a and 6a of the first embodiment, and the glass holding portions 16b and 16d are members corresponding to the glass holding portions 6b and 6b of the first embodiment.

The two pairs of glass holders 16b, 16d are connected by a connecting plate 16e, so the gap between them is kept constant, eliminating the need for the window frame 11 used in the first embodiment.
In this embodiment, the outer surfaces of the two connecting portions 16a and 16c are also recessed from the outer surface. This recessed dimension d is set to be approximately the same as the thickness of the door surface material 3 (upper and lower surface materials 3a and 3b), as in the first embodiment.

6(III) shows a state in which the decorative plate 8 is attached to the window component plate 16. The decorative plate 9 is not shown.
The decorative plate 8 is the same as that in the first embodiment. When attached as shown in the figure, the outer surface of the decorative plate 8 and the outer surfaces of the upper and lower surface materials 3a and 3b are substantially flush with each other.
Based on this configuration, a fire door B with a neat appearance can be obtained.

(Third embodiment)
A fire door C of the third embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 7. The fire door C of this embodiment is different from the first embodiment only in the window component panel, and is otherwise the same.
7(I) shows the state in which door surface materials 3 and 4 are attached to frame 1 and frame 2 (not shown). Since FIG. 7(I) shows the area below the window, lower surface plates 3b and 4b are shown but upper surface plates 3a and 4a are omitted.

11 (II) shows the state in which the window component plate 26 is attached to the bone 1. The window component plate 26 has a different shape from the two window component plates 6 used in the first embodiment, but is a member made up of two plates.
That is, the window component plate 26 is made up of two members: one including a flat connecting portion 26a and a glass holding portion 26b with an L-shaped cross section, and the other including a flat connecting portion 26c and a glass holding portion 26d with an L-shaped cross section. A connecting plate 26e extends from the glass holding portion 26b toward the connecting portion 26c. The connecting plate 26e has an L-shaped cross section and is in surface contact with the connecting portion 26c. The connecting plate 26e acts as a reinforcing member, preventing deformation of the pair of front and rear connecting portions 26a, 26c and the glass holding portions 26b, 26d.
In this window component plate 26, the connecting portions 26a and 26c are members corresponding to the connecting portions 6a and 6a of the first embodiment, and the glass holding portions 26b and 26d are members corresponding to the glass holding portions 6b and 6b of the first embodiment.

The two pairs of glass holding portions 26b, 26d are connected by a connecting plate 26e, so the gap between them is maintained without narrowing, and the window frame 11 used in the first embodiment is not required.
In this embodiment, the outer surfaces of the two connecting portions 26a, 26c are also recessed from the outer surfaces. This recessed dimension d is set to be approximately the same as the thickness of the door surface material 3 (upper and lower surface materials 3a, 3b), as in the first embodiment.

Based on this configuration, a fire door C with a neat appearance can be obtained.

In each of the above embodiments, the window portion 5 was horizontally long, but this is not limited to this and the present invention can also be applied to fire doors with vertically long windows.
