However, radioactive waste contaminated with radioactivity generated from nuclear facilities such as nuclear power plants, nuclear research facilities, nuclear fuel handling facilities, nuclear fuel reprocessing plants, and radioisotope handling facilities, as well as toxic substance manufacturing processes or their handling processes. Toxic waste contaminated by generated toxic substances cannot be disposed of in a landfill, so it is currently stored at the source where it is generated.

It was hot.

を特徴とするものである。(Means for Solving the Problems) The method for compressing and reducing the volume of solid waste of the present invention is to combine a cylindrical container filled with solid waste with a cylindrical large-diameter portion with an upper inner circumferential surface. It is compressed with a high-pressure press having a compression sleeve consisting of a small diameter part of a square or hexagonal shape at the bottom and a tapered part at the middle part, and has a large number of longitudinal grooves that engage with protrusions provided on the periphery of the press ram. It is characterized in that the crushed objects have a hexagonal shape, and a plurality of crushed objects are housed and sealed in a storage container having a square or hexagonal cross-sectional shape.

Further, when a cylindrical drum is crushed into a square or hexagon, even better filling efficiency can be achieved since the shape matches the cross-sectional shape of the storage container.

It is filled into a cylindrical container 1 such as a drum as shown in FIG. Next, the cylindrical container 1 filled with waste is first compressed in a high-pressure press with a suitable compression sleeve.
Crush as shown in Figure b. Crushed compressed body 2
In this embodiment, the compressed body 2 has a substantially hexagonal shape as shown in FIG. Fill by stacking multiple pieces. After the storage container 3 filled with a plurality of compressed bodies 2 is sealed, it is stored in a storage warehouse or the like without any gaps, as shown in FIG. 1e.

In e, the same members as in FIGS. 1 a to e are given the same reference numerals, and their explanations will be omitted. In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 2c, the shape of the compressed body 4 is square, and the cross-sectional shape of the storage container 5 is also square. Even if the storage container 5 has a rectangular shape as in this embodiment, it can be stored without any space in a storage container such as a pit, as shown in FIG. 2e.

A high-pressure press machine 17 having the following is preferable because it can perform accurate compression and volume reduction processing by preventing extrusion and spouting of solid waste during the compression process. In addition, in the present invention, the cross-sectional shape (outer shape) of the storage container is limited to a square or hexagonal shape, so that when the compressed material is filled therein and stored in a storage location such as a pit, the dead space is reduced and This is because it is the most preferable shape to prevent the stack from shifting.

Compared to storing compressed bodies with a circular cross section, storage efficiency can be improved by 20 to 25%.

Since it is configured to crush and store it again in a storage container having a square or hexagonal cross-sectional shape, an extremely large volume reduction rate can be achieved and storage space can be used efficiently.
