sabaton (plural sabatons)

(historical) A medieval armour covering for the foot, typically made of steel; a flexible armour shoe.

使用する際の注意点

In general, sabaton and solleret are interchangeable. Sometimes, a distinction is drawn, with sabaton reserved for armour shoes which are broad and blunt at the toe as in the image above, while solleret is used for ones which are pointed, but it is not clear that this distinction is historical.
