Regarding geographical indications, the Doha Ministerial Declaration of 2001 (Paragraph 18) provided for: (i) negotiation of the establishment of a multilateral system for the notification and registration of geographical indications for wines and spirits within the framework of the new round (Built-in Agenda); and (ii) the granting of additional protection of Article 23 for geographical indications for products other than wines and spirits.
